Equities suffered losses and closed in minus column at the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) amid descending transaction volume on Tuesday. The LSE-25 index declined by 03.98 points and was closed at 5599.99 points against 5603.97 points of Monday, while transaction volume declined to 547,200 shares, as compared to previous volume of 01.713 million shares.
According to brokers, the market players showed cautious response ahead of 4-day long holidays on account of 9th and 10th Muharram. The investors also off loaded to pocket available margin. This trend led the market to downward slide. Attock Refinery Limited, Pakistan Oil Fields, Fauji Fertilizers Bin Qasim Limited, Century Paper Board Mills Limited, SNGPL, OGDC, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, Pace Pakistan Limited, Dewan Cement Limited and Dewan Farooq Motors resister pressure and registered gains, while Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, PPL, Maple Leaf Cement Factory, Faysal Bank Limited, PIA, Pakcem Limited and K-Electric Limited suffered losses and closed in minus column.
The gainers were ahead with the losers, as out of a total of 74 companies, 22 showed strength and were closed in green zone, eight suffered losses, while 44 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Attock Refinery Limited gained Rs 5.50, Pakistan Oil Fields was improved by Rs 4.03, Fauji Fertilizers Bin Qasim Limited was appreciated by Rs 2.97, while Century Paper Board Mills Limited, SNGPL, OGDC, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, Pace Pakistan Limited, Dewan Cement Limited and Dewan Farooq Motors were up by Rs 2.51, Rs 1.45, paisa-80, paisa-62, paisa-60, paisa-55 and paisa-55, respectively.
On the other hand, Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited shed Rs 4.48, Pak Elektron Limited was declined by Rs 3.15, PPL lost Rs 3.08, while Maple Leaf Cement Factory, Faysal Bank Limited, PIA, Pakcem Limited and K-Electric Limited were down by paisa-49, paisa-35, paisa-26, paisa-10 and paisa-10, respectively. The volume leader of the day included Southern Electric Power Company with 107,500 shares, the Bank of Punjab Limited with 98,000 shares and Silkbank Limited (Saudi) with 64,500 shares.
