An accused in the murder case of Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali has applied for bail before the Islamabad High Court (IHC). Earlier, IHC took up the petition seeking cancellation of bail of Abdullah Umar, an accused in the murder of special prosecutor of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali, who was allegedly picked up by an intelligence agency along with his cousin advocate Hammad Dadan, and Ammar Dadan.
The recent petition was filed by Adnan Adil and heard by a two-member division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Athar Minallah. The police arrested Adnan Adil and his brother Hammad Adil from Barakahu in September 2013 in connection with Chaudhry Zulfiqar murder case.
Another attacker Harris Khan was killed during the said attack on the prosecutor after his gunman Farman Ali opened fire on the armed attackers whereby Tanveer Ahmed alias Ishaq a Punjabi Taliban managed to escape. According to the police report, they were also involved in the murder of former federal minister for minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti, who was assassinated in March 2011.
Hearing the plea seeking recovery of Abdullah Umar and the missing lawyer, IHC Justice Siddiqui directed the superintendent of police to trace the missing persons and produce them before the court. The Industrial Area police informed the IHC that an FIR has been registered and the police is doing the needful to trace the missing persons.
