Mission Impossible – Fallout to show Tom Cruise in ‘Kashmir’

Tom Cruise’s special agent Ethan Hunt will be landing in Kashmir to save the world in Christopher McQuarrie’s ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’.

The climax sequence of Cruise's Mission Impossible is set in Kashmir. The actor, however, did not travel to Kashmir in real and the scene was recreated in New Zealand, director McQuarrie told IANS.

According to McQuarrie, they wanted to shoot the film in India but permissions came in the way. The director described New Zealand as a ‘nice and safe country’ and added that they needed a ‘more politically complex’ world for the film.

“We wanted to shoot in Paris and we knew that we are based in London, so something needs to happen there. And we knew we wanted a helicopter chase sequence. The only country that would let us do it was New Zealand and we wanted something that was more political complex than New Zealand. It didn't feel like something politically dangerous would be happening in New Zealand and we looked at places that had some similarities to New Zealand, which is why we picked Kashmir,” he said.

The early reviews of the movie, which is set to release on July 26, are out. It tells the story of a mission gone wrong. Agent Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise, is hunted by assassins and former allies as he races against time to prevent a terrorist organisation from provoking a global catastrophe.
