Sindh Excise department achieves tax target: Mushtaq Shah

KARACHI: Sindh Caretaker Minister for Irrigation, Inter-Provincial Coordination, Public Health Engineering, Rural Development, Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has said that it is a matter of great pleasure that Sindh Excise & Taxation Department has got 105 per cent tax collection target during fiscal year 2017-18.

This he said while presiding over a meeting of Excise and Taxation Department at his office on Tuesday, said a statement.

He said that the department has recovered Rs. 66009.285 million in terms of various taxes in 2017-18 while during last fiscal year 2016-17, Rs. 57748.494 millions were recovered.

Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Aijaz Ahmed Mahesar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh and Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other Directors also attended the meeting.

While briefing the meeting Director General Excise & Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh told that Rs.7004.479 millions were recovered in Motor Vehicles Tax, Rs. 51854.258 millions in Infrastructure Cess Tax and Rs. 363.811 millions were recovered in Professional Tax.

Rs.177.581 millions in terms of Cotton Fee, Rs.1936.515 millions in Property Tax and 51.662 millions in Entertainment duty were recovered, while the remaining amount was recovered in terms of various other heads, he added.
