Engro Corporation Pakistan is providing all basic services including water, sanitation, infrastructure, education, health facilities, jobs and other facilities to local peoples in Sindh province. Senior Advisor, Air Commodore Syed Asghar Naqvi (Retired) said this while speaking to media persons, here on Wednesday.
He said that Engro is Pakistan largest home-grown multinational company and its portfolio consists of seven businesses which included chemical fertilizer, PVC resin, a bulk liquid chemical terminal, industrial automation, foods (ice-cream, dairy and beverages), power generation and commodity trade.
"Every year million rupees are being spent on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) where the basic facilities are provided to local peoples in the province," he said, adding the company has adopted many schools and in addition to this, it has opened new schools in the province including school at Ghotki.
The senior advisor said that Modern Technical College had been established at Ghotki where students especially from poor families from local areas would get education and apart from this, those students would be hired by the company. Besides this, the company has started a work on some projects in Thar areas where already more than 40,000 livestock have been vaccinated by the company, he added. In Ghotki, the company would also set up the college where students of poor families would get education, he said.
The company would generate 660 MW electricity and take out 360 million ton Coal for Thar people in future, he said, adding despite of loss incurred to Engro Food, the company has mobilised all resources for providing basic facilities to people in the province. Director Fawad Soomro was present on the occasion.
