Tension gripped several parts of the industrial city where workers of ruling PML-N also came face-to-face with PTI protestors, shouting angry slogans against each other's party leader. While traders' community and transporters had divided over the issue of "wheel jam strike" and lawyers' community announced boycott of the court attendance on Monday.
Sunni Ittihad Council announced to join strike on Monday. The police had taken more than 300 motorcycles into custody for violation of 144 Cr PC, which was imposed by Administrator City District Government Noor-ul-Amin Mengal banning on pillion riding across the district for two days.
Imran Khan, chief of PTI will be addressed dharna at Chowk Clock Tower on Monday afternoon and push for his 'Plan C', while linked city roads will also be blocked at nine entrance points of the industrial city.
Over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's call of protest and shutdown, PML-N and PTI workers beaten up each other and thrown stones, resultantly some workers injured. The administration deployed extra police contingents in different parts of the city. The city administration has also called extra police contingents from Toba Tek Singh, Jhang and Chiniot and armoured personnel carriers including water gun from Lahore.
A PTI leader Rana Raheel has announced that a bike rally would be taken out in the city on Monday to defy the pillion-ridding ban.
The legal fraternity of the city will boycott courts against "corruption", "inflation" and "lawlessness" on Monday.
