KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair urged the media to play its due role by presenting the facts and figures before the public so that they can vote for right people as the coming general elections are very important for the future of the country.
Media is the fourth pillar of the state and works as bridge between government and the people, said the Governor while talking to a delegation of journalists from Korangi Press Club here at the Governor House, said an official statement on Monday.
In the meeting, the issues facing journalistic community were discussed.
The Governor said now the country was peaceful and was rightly moving on the road to prosperity against that in 2013.
The immediate past government did great job by reviving and strengthening the economy. It created large number of jobs along with launching youth and women empowerment programmes in the country. PML-N government also did its best to overcome the energy crisis, he said.
He said over last five years, the provinces had governments of different political parties and their performance is before the people. Now, the people must keep in mind the performance of the parties before casting their votes.
He said the days of censors and bans on media were gone and now it was fully independent and playing very important role in the national progress and prosperity.
Sindh Governor said PML-N government had taken various steps for the protection and welfare of the journalists as well.
