ISLAMABAD: Political Analyst Professor Dr Rasheed Ahmed Khan said on Monday that Pakistan was heading towards timely, free and transparent election.
Talking to Radio Programme he said , Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government was the second civilian government, which completed its five year term after the PPP.
Following the Supreme Court's decision, the ECP announced revised dates for collection of nomination papers from candidates aspiring to contest the upcoming general elections, he added.
Prof Rasheed said the commission would continue to receive the nomination papers, in compliance with the approved format in the Election Act 2017, from June 4 till June 8.
The initial list of candidates would be released on June 8, while dates for other developments regarding elections would remain unchanged, he added.
Former Secretary, ECP Kanwar Dilshad said the Election Commission of Pakistan was fully committed and ready to hold general elections on time in free, fair and transparent manner, which was vital to flourish democracy and democratic values in the country.
Returning officers had started receiving the nomination papers in their respective areas, which would continue till Friday, he mentioned.
The ECP had recently issued revised schedule regarding filing of nomination papers.
The schedule also applies for candidates on reserved seats; women and non-Muslims, in all National and provincial assemblies, he added.
