Provincial Minister for Food, Bilal Yasin, said the Punjab government has presented business-friendly and tax-free budget 2014-15. He expressed these views while talking to media, persons, here on Sunday. The minister said that this historic budget of more than Rs 1,000 billion will result in progress and prosperity of all walks of life.
He said that by allocating 36 percent development budget for South Punjab would surely eliminate a sense of deprivation from the people of that area.
Similarly, by removing the deprivations of backwards areas of South Punjab, government is making legislation for giving proper representation to the people of the area in jobs along with development projects for which government is setting up of offices of Punjab Public Service Commission and examination centres at Bahawalpur and DG Khan. Bilal Yasin said that the country is facing energy crisis and the government from its very first day has started work on 19 projects for overcoming energy crisis. He said that besides setting up of 1500 megawatt Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur, coal-based power plants are also being installed with the co-operation of Chinese investors in Faisalabad and Sahiwal. He said that such plants would also be installed at Sheikhupura, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhang and Kasur at a cost of 31 billion rupees. He said that Rs 48.31 billion have been allocated for development projects in education sector which include Rs 28.1 for schools, Rs 14.05 for higher education, a total of Rs 3.20 billion for special education and for literacy rate besides Rs 2.96 billion are being spent on health.
