The Karachi Port handled 122,943 tonnes of cargo comprising 73,485 tonnes of import cargo and 49,458 tonnes of export cargo including 6,457 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 73,485 tonnes comprised of 33,180 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,002 tonnes of general cargo; 18,915 tonnes of coal and 20,388 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,458 tonnes comprised of 38,580 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15 tonnes of general cargo; 1,633 tonnes of cement and 9,230 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,457 containers comprising 2,467 containers import and 3,990 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 923 of 20's and 671 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 101 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 663 of 20's and 783 of 40's loaded containers while 529 of 20's and 616 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely PAC Aries, OOCL New York, El Gurdabia, Oriental Nadeshiko, MT Lahore, Topaz-T and Veruda carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Northern prelude, Hyundai Jakarta, APL Seattle, Topaz-T, Ping An and Toplight carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely Wan Hai-512, HS Everest, Global Brave, Silver Point and Mu Dan Song carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday.
There were six vessels viz. UASC Khor Fakkan, Al-Shroog, MT Quetta, Liquid Gold, Ioannis-G and CSC Zhong Hai carrying containers, oil tankers, cement and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz. Ever Pearl, Maersk Mikage, Laurel Galaxy and Arikun carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 65,306 tonnes comprising 45,041 tonnes of import cargo and 20,265 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,086 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 45,041 tonnes includes 21,100 tonnes of edible oil; 400 tonnes of general cargo and 23,541 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,265 tonnes includes and 20,265 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely MT Able Sailor and MV Embdens Welyaart with oil tanker and general cargo sailed out sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Didem and CV CMA CGM Lamartine with containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of four vessels viz. CV MSC Didem, CV CMA CGM Lamartine, MV Embdens Welyaart and MT Able Sailor currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as five ships namely Kerstins, Al-Soor-II, Barizo, Nave Universe and Argent Bloom with containers, diesel oil, furnace oil and edible oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were three vessels carrying containers and general cargo took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are four ships namely CV Kerstins, CV Tessa, MT Nave Universe and MT Argent Bloom with containers and palm oil due to arrive on Thursday.
