England cricket coach Trevor Bayliss has slammed his side after poor showings against Pakistan, as the home side were thrashed by nine wickets at the opening Test at the historic Lord's venue.
"I would be expecting they will be a little embarrassed about the way they've played in this game and their performance in the next one will be better," said Bayliss, quoted BBC.
However, the 55-year-old was confident that his side has the ability to bounce back in the next Test match. "We have shown in the past that when we haven't played very well, come the next one, we've pulled the finger out," he added. Meanwhile, if England loses the second Test at Leeds, they will fall from fifth to sixth in the rankings.
On the other hand, the ICC has fined Pakistan for maintaining a slow over-rate in the Lord’s Test, after Pakistan were ruled to be three overs short of their target when time allowances were taken into consideration.
Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has been fined 60 per cent of his match fee, while the rest of the team received 30 per cent fines. Man-of-the-match Mohammad Abbas led Pakistan’s attack with an overall figure of eight for 64, while four Pakistan batsmen scored fifties in a competitive first-innings total of 363 runs.
