ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held three important diplomatic conversations within 24 hours, underscoring Pakistan’s active role in regional peace efforts and the possible signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran in Geneva.
He spoke with the foreign ministers of Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt to discuss the evolving situation in the Middle East.
On Saturday, Senator Dar spoke with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, welcoming the encouraging progress toward an understanding between the United States and Iran. According to the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson, both leaders expressed hope that the ongoing engagement would soon contribute to peace and stability in the region and agreed to remain in close contact.
The Swiss Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s leading mediating role in advancing diplomatic dialogue and supporting efforts for regional and global stability. This was Dar’s second telephone conversation with his Swiss counterpart in less than 24 hours. Both held contact late on Friday night, soon after President Trump’s announcement that they are closer to signing a deal with Iran in Geneva.
Earlier, Senator Dar also spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty late Friday night. The two leaders reviewed the latest regional developments and noted the positive momentum in diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace. They expressed optimism that the US–Iran engagement could yield an early and constructive outcome, contributing to lasting stability. Both sides agreed to continue consultations on matters of mutual interest.
Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar also held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
They welcomed the US–Iran negotiations in their final stage, with the electronic signing ceremony scheduled for tomorrow, and expressed the hope that this important development will contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
The Saudi Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s consistent and sustained efforts in support of mediation and dialogue throughout the process.
Both sides also discussed the forthcoming Regional Four Foreign Ministers (R-4) meeting, scheduled to be held in Egypt later this month. These back-to-back calls highlight Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic outreach as momentum builds around the potential US–Iran peace deal.
