ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan Thursday informed the National Assembly that a sum of Rs. 10.83 billion had been received under the head of Workers Welfare Funds (WWF).

Responding to a calling attention notice moved by Ghulam Sarwar and others regarding non-release of Workers Welfare Funds by the Ministry of Finance, he said the amount released for the Workers Welfare Funds is much higher as compared to the amount received so for under its account.

He said that the government had Rs 110 billion under the head of WWF while the released amount for WWF was Rs. 10.90 billion.

The minister said the funds are being used for the labour welfare while an amount had also been allocated for death and marriage grants.

Responding to a question, he said that there was no pending application of WWF with the ministry. He said that if the application arrived the ministry will take action accordingly.
