MIRPUR (AJK): AJK President Sardar Masood Khan Wednesday emphasized the need in encouraging developing skilled, confident, responsible and patriotic citizens.

He said constructive steps will also be taken to encourage students from the primary, middle and secondary tiers of education in joining the Pakistan Girl Guids Association ( PGGA).

The president made these remarks while interacting with a delegation led by Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, National Commissioner of PGGA who called on him at Jammu and Kashmir House.

Senator Nuzhat Sadiq apprised the president of PGGAs’ recent achievements and activities in various provinces of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. She informed that the Girl Guides in Azad Kashmir have been actively participating in various workshops and training sessions.

The president also expressed his delight on being informed that almost 70 Girl Guides from Azad Kashmir participated in this years’ annual parade on 23rd March. The Girl Guide contingent at the parade was also led by a Guide from Azad Kashmir, the national commissioner said.

Senator Nuzhat informed the president of various issues faced by the association in AJK including the establishment of a parallel setup which has led to considerable confusion. The president assured that the issue will be taken up with the department concerned and matters pertaining to streamlining the functioning of the association will be prioritized.

President Masood Khan praised the efforts of the PGGA for helping produce good samaritans, inculcating life skills through providing ample training opportunities to the Girl Guides and positively impacting the community.
