He later thanked everyone who helped with the project. He expressed that ‘strong support from public, elected officials & regulators is critical to success’.

He said that once the tunnel is completely operations, the demo system rides will be free and also, the ‘system will always give priority to pods for pedestrians and cyclists for less than the cost of a bus ticket’.

According to The Verge, the two-mile test tunnel is places underneath SpaceX’s headquarters in Hawthrone, California. The tunnel is basically for underground public transportation system aiming to transport passengers and vehicles beneath congested roadways on autonomous electric skates. The skates can transport 8-16 passengers, or one passenger vehicles for up to 124mph. Musk initially formed that the tunnels will give priority of pedestrians and cyclists.

The Boring Company already has four underground transportation projects in the works, including the Hawthorne test tunnel, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Chicago. Musk said on Twitter that the company has already started digging the tunnel between DC can New York and hoped that it would begin working on the one between Los Angeles and San Francisco by next year, wrote Business Insider.
