Turkish land forces commander calls on Pakistan military leadership

Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, called on Pakistan’s military leadership during an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), upon arrival at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the visiting dignitary was presented a smartly turned-out Guard of Honour by a Pakistan Army contingent.

During his meeting with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at GHQ in Rawalpindi, discussions focused on matters of mutual professional interest, evolving regional security dynamics, and avenues to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The Army Chief highlighted the deep-rooted historical, cultural and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and appreciated ongoing defence collaboration between the armed forces.

The Turkish commander also visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad and called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

According to ISPR, the meeting covered professional matters and the regional maritime security environment.

At Air Headquarters in Islamabad, the visiting general met Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

Both sides discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral military cooperation and institutional linkages.

The Turkish Land Forces Commander also lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability.

He expressed commitment to further deepening defence ties between the armed forces of the two countries.

The engagements underscore continued high-level military-to-military exchanges between Pakistan Armed Forces and Turkish Land Forces.
