Swedish central bank's Jansson says first hikes should be smaller than 0.25pc pts

STOCKHOLM: Sweden's central bank should be extra careful when it starts to hike its benchmark rate with increments smaller than the usual 0.25 percentage points preferable, Deputy Governor Per Jansson said on Tuesday.

"It might be sensible to take extra-careful steps to start with," Jansson told reporters.

He said the suitability of a step smaller than the usual 0.25 percentage points was his personal opinion.
