ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday decided that a joint delegation of the federal government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would meet the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership today (Friday) to discuss the prevailing political situation in the country.
The decision was taken during a meeting between the President and the Prime Minister held here at Aiwan-i-Sadr. The President and the Prime Minister also reviewed the country’s overall political and security situation. The meeting expressed grave concern over the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The government delegation will include Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, and Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam, while Sherry Rehman, Syed Naveed Qamar and Ejaz Jakhrani will represent the PPP during the talks with the PTI.
The meeting between the President and the Prime Minister comes amid heightened political tensions and the PTI’s planned march on Islamabad.
