ISLAMABAD: The ex-depot price of petrol has been increased by Rs 3.26 per litre to Rs 390.66, up from Rs 387.40 in the previous review. Conversely, High Speed Diesel (HSD) saw a drop of Rs 1.01 per litre, bringing its new price down to Rs 399.34 from Rs 400.35. Petroleum Division has revised fuel prices effective October 2

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) states that the change in price is necessitated by global events including changes in Platts rates, premiums, incidentals etc.

During the last seven days, the average petrol price has increased to USD 129.01 per bbl (compared to USD 127.74 per bbl on October 1), while HSD decreased to USD 110.11 per barrel from USD 110.68 per bbl.

A Petroleum Division notification states that levies and profit margins remain largely steady across both products. The change is recorded in supply cost of both petroleum products. The import cost of petrol has been increased to Rs 279.90 per litre from Rs 276.64 per litre, whereas the HSD price has gone down to Rs 292.34 per litre from Rs 293.36 per litre.

According to a Petroleum Division notification, government levies and fixed profit margins for petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) remain unchanged. Both fuels carry a Petroleum Levy of Rs 80 per litre, a Climate Support Levy of Rs 5 per litre, and profit margins of Rs 9.98 per litre for dealers and Rs 7.87 per litre for oil marketing companies. While the Inland Freight Equalization Margin (IFEM) has been adjusted at Rs 7.91 on petrol and Rs 4.19 per litre on HSD.
