Sri Lankan shares close flat

COLOMBO: Sri Lankan shares closed flat on Monday, as gains in communication services stocks were offset by losses in healthcare and consumer discretionary.

The CSE All-Share index settled down 0.03 percent at 21,616.88.

SMB Finance and Asia Asset Finance were the top percentage losers on the CSE All-Share index, falling 9.09 percent and 8.15 percent, respectively.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share index fell to 45.5 million shares from 76 million in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover fell to 1.89 billion Sri Lankan rupees (USD5.7 million) from 2.24 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 488.5 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 1.88 billion rupees, the data showed.
