SARGODHA: As many as 21 young men from Sargodha district in Punjab have reportedly gone missing in Saudi Arabia, according to their families.
Relatives said the men had travelled to Saudi Arabia on employment visas and were working as taxi drivers.
They said contact with all 21 men had been lost since January 28, leaving their families deeply concerned about their whereabouts and safety. The families said 13 of the missing men belong to the same tribe.
Among those reported missing are Mujtaba Baloch, Razi Khan and Muhammad Khawar Iqbal, along with several others.
The relatives have appealed to Field Marshal Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to take immediate notice of the matter and contact Saudi authorities to help locate and recover the missing Pakistanis.
They said that if the missing men had committed any offence, evidence of the alleged crimes should be provided to their families.
However, if they were not involved in any wrongdoing, the authorities should take immediate steps to secure their release and ensure their safe return.
The families have urged the Pakistani government to obtain information about the 21 youths and make every possible effort to reunite them with their loved ones at the earliest.
The relatives said the prolonged lack of communication had caused severe anxiety and uncertainty, and called for urgent diplomatic efforts to determine the men’s whereabouts and resolve the matter.
