PM Shehbaz departs for Iran on official visit

PM Shehbaz departs for Iran on official visit

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed on Friday for his one-day visit to Iran.

The PM will participate in the funeral rites of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Martyr Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

“On behalf of the Pakistani people and government, the Prime Minister will express heartfelt condolences to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved families and reaffirm Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the brotherly Iranian nation in this hour of grief,” the statement said.

He is accompanied by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Secretary General of Pakistan People’s Party Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, and Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Concluding his trip to Iran, the PM will then proceed to Istanbul for his bilateral visit to Turkey.

As per the Foreign Office, PM Shehbaz will be visiting Türkiye at the invitation of the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Both sides will hold discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral relations with a special focus on giving impetus to bilateral trade and investment cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The leadership meeting will also reflect on issues concerning regional peace and security.

During his stay in Istanbul, the premier will also address a Business Conference being hosted by Pakistan to spotlight Pakistan’s trade and investment potential in priority areas, including SEZs, Energy, IT and privatization sectors.

The conference will bring together leading Turkish businesses and investors, alongside senior official dignitaries and other distinguished participants.
