LAHORE: Academics, journalists, students, and civil society members gathered at the SAFMA premises in Lahore on the invitation of Fikr o Amal to deliberate on one of the most enduring challenges of the modern era social justice in a panel discussion that drew an audience of nearly 60 participants and sparked a wide-ranging intellectual exchange on Pakistan’s social and political realities.

The event, held under the theme “Social Justice and the Contemporary World,” formed part of Fikr o Amal’s continuing series of public dialogues aimed at fostering critical engagement with contemporary social, political, and economic issues. The discussion featured three prominent speakers Dr. Mehmood Mehdi Kazmi, founder of Fikr o Amal, Faisal Warraich, and Mehmal Sarfraz — who examined the challenges and possibilities of advancing social justice in a rapidly changing world.

The speakers reflected on the centrality of democratic values, inclusive public discourse, and civic responsibility, while drawing attention to the persistent social and economic inequalities that continue to define the lived realities of millions.

The session was moderated by Huma Ejaz Zaman and Ammar Ali Jan, who guided the conversation with a focus on the contemporary relevance of social justice both globally and within the Pakistani context.

Following the panel, participants engaged the speakers in an interactive question-and-answer session that further enriched the discourse. Representatives of Fikr o Amal reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to creating platforms for meaningful dialogue, pledging to continue hosting similar forums and intellectual engagements in the future.
