LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday welcomed the Iran-US peace agreement, saying it was made possible through Pakistan’s efforts, and paid glowing tribute to the country’s political, military and diplomatic leadership.
In a statement, the chief minister said history would bear witness that Pakistan had saved the world from economic devastation, bloodshed and a global crisis. She remarked that Pakistan’s diplomacy had ushered in “a new dawn of peace” for the world.
The CM said the people of Punjab, along with the entire nation, saluted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for what she described as a major diplomatic achievement.
She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar had elevated Pakistan’s stature across the world and made the nation proud.
“History will remember that when the world needed Pakistan, it did not disappoint,” she said, adding that every Pakistani held their head high with pride over the country’s diplomatic success.
The chief minister further said Pakistan’s leadership had transformed the flames of war into the light of dialogue and negotiations. She maintained that by helping avert a global economic crisis, Pakistan had rendered a great service to humanity.
“Pakistan today stands as an example of peace, wisdom and responsible leadership for the entire world,” she added.
