PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) Mardan and Malakand Region has successfully achieved its revenue target for the three quarters of the current fiscal year 2025-26 and collected approximately Rs 156 million revenue. This was told by Wazir (Additional Collector M&M), while briefing the Director General (DG) KPRA Irum Naz during her visit to the Regional Headquarters Mardan and Malakand.

The achievement was made possible owing to focused enforcement, maximum outreach to taxpayers and sustained recovery efforts throughout the financial year till date.

A key achievement highlighted during the briefing was the conversion of 236 previously zero-paying taxpayers into active taxpayers, resulting in revenue collection of approximately Rs 156 million. These taxpayers belonged to various sectors, including hospitality, construction, transportation, consultancy and withholding agents.

The director general was also apprised of the performance of the Withholding Wing, which brought 40 previously non-compliant withholding agents into the tax net, generating around Rs 22 million in revenue.

Significant progress was achieved through engagement with manufacturers, Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs), universities, NGOs and other public-sector entities, particularly in the erstwhile tax exempted areas of Swat and Malakand.

The regional team further highlighted its detection and compliance initiatives, through which tax liabilities exceeding Rs 66 million were identified, through scrutiny of record obtained from several withholding agents. Most of these cases have already resulted in revenue recovery, while others are under adjudication.

Particular emphasis was placed on the remarkable growth in key sectors. Revenue from the hospitality sector in Malakand increased from Rs 3 million last year to Rs 51 million this year, while withholding tax collections rose from Rs 15 million to Rs 68 million during the same period.

The director general was also informed that the region is actively pursuing recovery of outstanding government dues, including pending recoveries from TMAs and other entities.

Special efforts are underway to expedite recoveries, realize pending cheques and recover short-paid tax liabilities identified through audit and enforcement activities.

Appreciating the performance of the regional team, Irum Naz commended the officers and staff for their dedication and encouraged them to continue their efforts towards achieving the annual revenue target.

During the visit, the Director General, accompanied by Director Administration KPRA, inspected various sections of the regional office, reviewed administrative/ operational arrangements and listened to issues raised by officers and staff.

They also planted trees in the premises of the Regional Office as part of KPRA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and offered prayers for the continued success and prosperity of the Authority.
