PM Shehbaz Sharif to embark on four-day visit to China tomorrow

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to undertake a four-day official visit to China from May 23 to 26, the Foreign Office announced on Friday.
The visit carries heightened diplomatic weight as Pakistan and China commemorate the 75th anniversary of establishing formal diplomatic relations. According to officials, the trip aims to reinforce the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and advance bilateral goals for a closer Pakistan-China Community, with a shared future.
During his stay, PM Sharif is slated to hold high-level talks with Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The discussions will span political, economic, and strategic cooperation, with a heavy emphasis on the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), trade, investment, industrial cooperation, agricultural modernisation, information technology, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
The prime minister will begin his visit in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, where he will chair the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference on IT & Telecom, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Agriculture, the FO stated.
In Beijing, the FO said, PM Shehbaz will attend a reception hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
The visit is expected to further deepen political trust, strengthen strategic coordination, expand practical cooperation, and consolidate the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.
