Int’l Nakba Day: President reaffirms unwavering solidarity with Palestinian people
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, pledging continued support for their struggle for self-determination, freedom and dignity.
In his message on the occasion of International Nakba Day, President Zardari described Nakba Day as a solemn reminder of the tragic events of 1948, which led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes and lands, resulting in decades of suffering.
He said that for the Palestinian people, the Nakba remains an ongoing reality marked by occupation, displacement, dispossession and the denial of fundamental rights.

The President emphasised that Pakistan has consistently stood by the Palestinian people and continued to advocate for their legitimate and inalienable rights at the United Nations and other international forums. He noted that Pakistan’s position is firmly guided by the principles of justice, international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Calling on the international community to extend continued support to the Palestinian people, particularly Palestinian refugees, President Zardari stressed that the Right of Return, as affirmed under Resolution, remains unfulfilled and must be upheld.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s urgent call for an immediate, unconditional and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, along with unrestricted humanitarian assistance for Palestinians and accountability for Israel’s actions.
President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the establishment of a viable, independent and contiguous State of Palestine based on the internationally recognised pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
He urged all nations to uphold international law, support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and work collectively towards a just, lasting and comprehensive resolution to the Palestine issue.
“Pakistan will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people until their inalienable rights are realised, including their right to self-determination and statehood,” the president stated.
