ISLAMABAD: The federal government announced a significant increase in petroleum product prices on Friday, with hikes of up to Rs 15 per litre taking effect on May 9, 2026.

According to a statement from the Petroleum Division, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been raised by Rs 15, moving from Rs 399.58 to Rs 414.58 per litre. Similarly, the price of petrol has seen an increase of Rs 14.92, bringing the new rate to Rs 414.78 per litre (up from the previous Rs 399.86).

The latest revision follows continued volatility in international oil markets amid geopolitical tensions and concerns over global fuel supply disruptions especially HSD.

In last weekly review effective from May 1, petroleum levy (PL) on petroleum products was adjusted to get the budgetary target of Rs 1.4 trillion. The levy on HSD was fixed at Rs 28.69 per litre. The levy on petrol was reduced by Rs 3.88 per litre, whereas it’s rate at HOBC fixed at Rs 305.37 per litre. Similarly, on kerosene oil the levy is Rs 20.36 per litre and on Light Diesel Oil (LDO) Rs 15.84 per litre.

Petroleum levy on petol and HSD increased by Rs 13.91 per litre. Pl on petrol has increased from Rs 103.50 to Rs 117.41 per litre and on HSD it has been raised from Rs 28.69 to Rs 42.60 per litre, according to sources.
