Faster passenger clearance: Modern machinery to be installed at all airports
ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday decided to install modern machinery at all airports to improve the checking system, ensure faster passenger clearance, and provide passengers with more convenient travel facilities.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the Interior and Defence ministries. The meeting, chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, agreed on the need to develop a coordinated strategy to expedite passenger processing at airports.
The meeting discussed measures to facilitate passengers and enhance coordination among all relevant institutions. It was decided to establish joint counters and introduce a unified, single-point checking system, said an official statement issued here after the meeting.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the installation of e-gates.
Addressing participants, the Interior Minister stressed the importance of ensuring quicker clearance and smoother travel for passengers. He noted that conducting joint checks through a single scanner would save time and improve efficiency.
He added that better coordination among institutions is essential to reduce congestion and waiting times, reiterating the government’s commitment to providing modern, fast, and convenient travel facilities.
Secretary Defence Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali (R) informed the meeting that modern equipment is being imported to help prevent aircraft damage and reduce the risk of bird-related incidents at airports.
