PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) is moving forward with an ambitious development plan aimed at strengthening the province’s tourism sector through public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives, according to sources.
Under the plan, the authority is expected to implement 10 major projects over the next three years, with the goal of reducing reliance on government funding and moving towards financial self-sustainability.
The proposed developments include integrated tourism zones in Mankial (Swat), Ghundol (Mansehra), and Madaklasht (Chitral), along with planned hospitality and recreational projects across key tourist destinations.
Key initiatives also include chairlift projects in Naran and a proposed Naran–Lake Saif-ul-Malook route, alongside hotel and resort developments in Upper Dir, Garm Chashma, Dongagali, Kheshgi, and other locations.
Sources indicate that significant land parcels have been identified for tourism infrastructure, including a major tourism complex in Sardargarhi (Peshawar) and a large recreational resort project in Kheshgi (Nowshera).
The authority also plans to lease select properties, including the Serena Hotel site, to the private sector to attract investment and boost tourism-related revenue.
