ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has said that mistrust must give way to dialogue and wisdom must prevail over the impulse of war, warning that the continuation of conflicts would be disastrous not only for the region but for the entire global community.

In a post on social media platform X on Saturday, he said Pakistan has the honour of hosting the Islamabad Peace Dialogue and playing a constructive role in bringing opposing sides from the battlefield to the negotiating table.

He praised the leadership of Pakistan, Iran, and the United States, along with other friendly nations, for their constructive efforts that helped create an opportunity for peace. He said the guiding principle behind Pakistan’s efforts has been a simple belief that mistrust must be replaced with dialogue, patience must prevail over escalation, and wisdom must overcome the urge for war.

Ahsan Iqbal warned that ongoing conflicts are no longer confined to a regional issue, as their economic aftershocks are already being felt globally, including rising inflation pressures, disruptions in energy supplies, unstable markets, and increasing uncertainty across all 193 countries.

He said that if the conflict continues, millions more people could be pushed into poverty, adding that the burden of failure would not fall only on the warring sides but would also be borne by ordinary men, women, and children around the world through inflation, insecurity, and economic instability.

Expressing hope for a successful outcome of the talks, the minister said their success would be vital not only for regional peace but also for the economic security and future stability of millions of families worldwide.

He added that history would not remember who caused the crisis, but would remember those who showed wisdom and statesmanship in preventing a wider war.

In his concluding remarks, he also shared multiple international media and peace-related hashtags, underscoring the importance of diplomacy, peace efforts, and a successful resolution to the tensions.
