LAHORE: Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani on Saturday reiterated that, in light of the increase in diesel prices amid the Iran war, the government is extending financial support to wheat farmers at the rate of PKR 1,500 per acre.
He added that the Chief Minister Punjab will personally oversee the disbursement of this assistance to ensure transparency and timely delivery.
He was chairing an emergency meeting of field formations via video link.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Additional Secretary (Task Force) Muhammad Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Directors General Agriculture Chaudhry Abdul Hameed and Naveed Asmat Kahloon, along with other relevant DGs, while officers from field formations participated online.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister for Agriculture directed the concerned formations to engage with service providers to bring down wheat harvesting charges at the earliest. He further instructed field officers to maintain continuous contact with farmers to ensure that they do not face any difficulties during the wheat harvesting process.
