ROME: Italy’s deputy justice minister, a close ally of far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, resigned on Tuesday after a photo emerged showing him with a man sentenced to four years in prison.
The photo shows Deputy Justice Minister Andrea Delmastro with Mauro Caroccia, who was sentenced for acting as a front man in managing assets belonging to the clan of a top Camorra mafia boss.
Controversy had been brewing for several weeks after it emerged that Delmastro was a shareholder in a catering company with Miriam Caroccia, Mauro Caroccia’s daughter.
