K-Electric (KE), the sole power utility of Karachi, has appointed Syed Taha as the company’s new chief executive officer (CEO).

The listed company shared the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.

“We would like to apprise that the Board of Directors of K-Electric Limited has appointed Syed Taha as the new CEO of the company, in place of Adeeb Ahmad, the interim CEO, with effect from 15 April 2026,” read the notice.

The company informed that Taha holds an engineering degree with an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.

“Since February 2020, Taha has been serving as the MD & CEO of Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO).

“Prior to joining PSO, he worked as an Executive Director in Oasis Energy, heading the Program Management Office of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, Nigeria.

“He has also worked previously as Chief Distribution Officer of KE, as well as held several senior positions in different organisations,” it added.

Taha also served at Shell Pakistan, Caltex Pakistan (A Chevron Company) and has experience in the steel industry.

Taha’s appointment comes amid recent changes in the power utility’s leadership, after Moonis Alvi stepped down from his role as chief executive.

Following Moonis Alvi’s resignation in February, Adeeb Ahmad was appointed as the company’s interim CEO with immediate effect.

May this change could bring change in inhumane load shedding affecting people of Karachi in name of default feeders, malpractice by KE, violation of consumers manual charter mandated by SECP NEPRA
