HAMBURG: South Korea’s state-backed Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. has bought about 125,000 metric tons of food-quality soybeans free of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) in an international tender which closed on March 12, European traders said on Tuesday. The soybeans were expected to be sourced from the United States, they said. The purchase was said to be above the volume reported as sought in the tender.
Some 100,000 tons was bought in five 20,000 ton consignments for shipment in ocean containers all at estimated prices between USD235.97 and USD258.20 a ton cost and freight included (c&f).
Another 25,000 tons for bulk shipment was bought at an estimated USD251.00 a ton c&f. The soybeans are sought for a wide range of delivery periods between April 2026 and April 2027.
