LAHORE: Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari has said that the crime rate in Punjab has declined significantly and the overall law and order situation in the province has improved noticeably.

She stated that the reduction in crime is the result of the effective strategy and sound policies of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

According to Azma Bokhari, the Crime Control Department (CCD) and the Punjab Police have played a key role in reducing crime across the province. Due to their effective performance, even minor daily crime incidents have decreased considerably in several districts.

Azma Bokhari further said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, taking into account the growing public confidence and appreciation for the CCD, has decided to transform it into a premier agency so that more effective action can be taken against criminal elements.

The minister added that the current law and order indicators and crime statistics in the province are encouraging and reflect the government’s effective governance and policy measures.

She emphasized that no one in Punjab can now dare to cast an evil eye on any mother, sister, or daughter, as the protection of women is the first priority and clear red line of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Azma Bokhari also stated that every officer and official of the Punjab Police has been directed to adopt a courteous and respectful attitude toward citizens and address them as “Sir” and “Janab”, in order to further strengthen the relationship of trust and respect between the police and the public.
