KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has approved an important Public-Private Partnership project to establish an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging network across the province in order to promote green energy and sustainable transport.

The project has been developed in collaboration with China’s ADM Group and Malik Group of Companies, aiming to introduce modern fast-charging infrastructure to support the rapidly growing electric mobility ecosystem in Pakistan.

Under the approved plan, the Government of Sindh will provide funding of Rs750 million in the first phase for the installation of 300 EV charging stations.

In addition, ADM Group will invest $90 million for the development of 3,000 electric vehicle charging stations across Pakistan, which will further strengthen the country’s electric mobility infrastructure.

According to Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the project will prove to be an important milestone in reducing carbon emissions, promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions, and strengthening the sustainable transportation system in Sindh.

Policy-level coordination and industrial partnerships played a significant role in the approval of the project. In this regard, the continuous coordination and efforts of Malik Khoda Bakhsh with relevant authorities and industrial stakeholders have also been acknowledged as supportive in achieving this progress. The Government of Sindh stated that the project will create new investment opportunities, promote the development of modern infrastructure, and position Sindh as a prominent region in Pakistan in the field of electric vehicle technology.

Chairman of Malik Group of Companies, Malik Khoda Bakhsh, said that the project would be highly significant in terms of green energy, modern transportation, and sustainable infrastructure.

He added that the Sindh government had earlier announced the installation of more than 691 EV charging stations at strategic locations along major highways and key cities of the province to facilitate public access and convenience, and the establishment of 300 charging stations in the first phase is an important step in that direction.

He further stated that the project will create employment opportunities for youth, while relevant staff will also be provided with equipment and training.
