LAHORE: The Punjab Police have spent more than Rs431.753 million during the current year on welfare initiatives for serving personnel and their families, according to an official spokesperson.
Sharing a breakdown of the expenditure, the spokesperson said over Rs151 million was disbursed as educational scholarships for children of police employees. More than Rs108.1 million was provided as wedding gifts for daughters of police personnel.
In addition, over Rs49.5 million was allocated to support medical treatment for employees and their families, while more than Rs61 million was paid out in retirement grants.
The spokesperson further stated that Rs44.126 million was given to families under subsistence allowance, Rs14.55 million was released to cover funeral expenses, and more than Rs3.413 million was issued as immediate financial assistance.
Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem said the funds were generated through the Police Welfare Fund and other welfare sources. He added that efforts to address the difficulties faced by employees and their families would continue, with measures being strengthened to ensure maximum facilities for the force.
