KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori gave his consent to the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2026, under Article 116 of the Constitution.
Third-party motor insurance has now been made mandatory in the province after the bill came into effect. Registration and transfer of a vehicle will not be possible without third-party insurance.
Under this amended Motor Vehicles Act-2026, the minimum compensation has been fixed at Rupees 700,000 for the deceased of insured vehicle accidents. In case of permanent disability, the compensation will be up to Rs 500,000. The insurance company will be bound to pay compensation within 45 days.
