Medical team completes examination of Imran Khan at Adiala jail

  • Adiala jail superintendent says medical board comprised specialists from various hospitals

A team of senior specialists has concluded a comprehensive medical examination of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, Aaj News reported on Sunday.

The team departed the prison facility after fulfilling a Supreme Court directive mandating a health assessment of the former prime minister before February 16.

According to the Adiala jail superintendent, the medical board comprised specialists from various hospitals who focused specifically on the former premier’s eye condition. An ambulance from Holy Family Hospital, equipped with specialised medicines, medical instruments, and eye-examination machinery, was brought into the premises via Gate 5 to facilitate the check-up.

An initial medical report has already been submitted to the Punjab government, detailing the PTI founder’s vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, and glucose levels. The report also provided a written brief on his current eye condition and noted that jail staff continue to monitor his health on a daily basis.

The federal government has constituted a high-level medical panel, including Dr Amjad and Dr Nadeem Qureshi, to oversee the case. Authorities stated that any decision regarding a potential hospital transfer will be made based on the recommendations and final report of this medical board.

Meanwhile, the PTI has voiced serious concern over its founder’s well-being, demanding complete transparency throughout the medical process. Government officials maintain that the future course of action will be determined once the specialists’ formal proposals are received.
