LAHORE: Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has stated that the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI) is providing world-class treatment facilities for liver and kidney diseases and has emerged as a leading centre of excellence in the country’s healthcare sector.

Addressing the International Symposium organised by PKLI at a local hotel, the speaker remarked that the Institute is staffed with highly qualified and experienced specialists who are rendering dedicated services to patients. Referring to his personal experience, he said that PKLI’s professional team is committed to excellence and continues to serve the public with unwavering dedication.

He expressed confidence that medical professionals would persist in utilizing their expertise for the betterment of the nation’s health sector.

The symposium was attended by the President of PKLI, Saeed Akhtar, along with distinguished national and international medical experts. The event featured comprehensive scientific sessions on liver and kidney diseases, organ transplantation, innovative research, and advanced treatment techniques, complemented by specialised panel discussions.

Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan observed that he had witnessed the establishment of PKLI and acknowledged Professor Saeed Akhtar’s relentless efforts in transforming the vision of a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence into reality. He noted that despite administrative and bureaucratic challenges during the execution of the project, steadfast leadership ensured its successful completion.

He further highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally monitored the progress of the project and regularly visited the construction site during its development phase. He emphasized that PKLI has set a benchmark in maintaining merit, transparency, and professional standards, and today stands as a symbol of hope for patients across Pakistan.

On the occasion, Professor Saeed Akhtar stated that the establishment of a Centre of Excellence was once a vision that materialized through sustained efforts and institutional commitment, adding that PKLI now represents a milestone in Pakistan’s modern medical landscape.
