LAHORE: The authorities in Lahore have reimposed restrictions on kite flying following the conclusion of the three-day Basant festival.
In a statement, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari urged the parents to keep a close eye on their children, as strict action will be taken against anyone continuing to fly kites.
Azma Bokhari described the festival as “successful and the safest Basant in recent memory” and thanked the people of Lahore, Pakistan, foreign guests, and diplomats for participating responsibly.
“Lahoris deserve appreciation for celebrating Basant safely and enjoying the colours of life,” she said, adding that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had won the hearts of people after the successful and safe holding of Basant.
The minister noted that people came from the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East to participate in the festival, and praised the public for following government SOPs diligently.
The minister also highlighted the efforts of police, rescue teams, district administration, and other authorities in ensuring a secure and orderly festival.
“During Basant, people rejected the politics of hatred, unrest, and protest, and instead supported development, prosperity, and peace,” Bokhari said.
