FAISALABAD: Chairman Punjab WASA Authority Nawabzada Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan has said that Rs 200 billion development program has been launched to upgrade the WASA system across the province, including Faisalabad, with the aim of providing quality sewage and water supply services to the citizens.

Talking to the media at WASA Head Office, he said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is implementing a comprehensive program to provide clean drinking water and quality sewage facilities to the citizens on a priority basis. In this regard, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued a Rs 200 billion development program for WASA in all districts of the province, including Faisalabad, through which the sewage system and water supply schemes are under completion and upon the completion of all these development schemes, the citizens will see a new Punjab.

Earlier, in a meeting with the members of the National Assembly, Chairman Authority Nawabzada Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan was informed about the issues related to WASA and issued instructions to the Managing Director WASA to resolve them and said that at the start of any development scheme, the relevant public representatives should be taken on board and the development schemes should be started with their consultation.

The meeting was also attended by members of the National and Provincial Assembly, ticket holders, including Raja Daniyal Ahmed, Chaudhry Shahbaz Babar, Mian Irfan Manan, Chaudhry Faqir Hussain Dogar, Rana Ali Abbas Khan, Mehr Hamid Rashid, Sheikh Muhammad Yousaf, Khawaja Rizwan and others.

WASA Managing Director Saqib Raza, while giving a detailed briefing on WASA’s performance and new projects, said that WASA Faisalabad has covered more than 8,000 missing manholes during the past one year, while another 5,000 manhole covers are in store and any missing manhole is being covered on an emergency basis upon notification or identification.
