CDF Asim Munir visits Muzaffarabad, reiterates support for Kashmir cause
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Muzaffarabad on Thursday, where he paid homage to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom struggle and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to ISPR, the CDF laid a wreath at the Jammu and Kashmir Martyrs Monument and offered tributes to the martyrs, acknowledging their “enduring legacy of valour and selfless sacrifice.”
During interactions with local notables and veterans, Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people. He said that continued human rights violations and what he termed Hindutva-driven excesses in IIOJK had failed to suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position, the army chief said that Kashmir would “witness the dawn of freedom” in line with the will of its people. He added that Pakistan would continue to raise the Kashmir issue at all relevant international forums until a just resolution is achieved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The COAS also commended the officers and soldiers deployed in the Kashmir region for their dedication, high morale and operational readiness despite challenging conditions. He stressed the importance of maintaining peak preparedness, vigilance and coordination across all domains to effectively deter and respond to any hostile action.
Later, Field Marshal Munir visited a forward post and interacted with troops deployed along the frontlines. He warned that any act of aggression would be met with a swift and befitting response, adding that the armed forces remain fully prepared to counter both conventional and hybrid threats in the evolving security environment.
Upon arrival in Muzaffarabad, the COAS was received by the Commander Rawalpindi Corps.
