ISLAMABAD: Crime rate continued to raise in the federal capital as police records revealed at least 43 criminal incidents including cases of murder, vehicle theft, street crime, dacoity and robbery were reported over the past week.

Data gathered from First Information Reports (FIRs) by Business Recorder shows that seven murder cases were reported during the period. Murder incidents were recorded in the limits of Noon (one), Khanna (one), Koral (one), Nilor (one) and Lohi Bheer (one) police stations.

Motorcycle theft remained the most frequently reported offence, with 25 cases registered across the city. Areas reporting high bike theft included Aabpara (two), Kohsar (one), Margalla (two), Karachi Company (three), Ramana (two), Sumbal (two), Sabzi Mandi (one), Khanna (one), Koral (one), Bani Khau (two) and Lohi Bheer (one).

Police also registered seven car theft cases, reported from Kohsar (one), Karachi Company (three), Ramana (one), Sumbal (one), Sabzi Mandi (two) and Khanna (one) police station areas. Street crime incidents stood at five cases, reported in Karachi Company (three) and Khanna (one) jurisdictions.

Additionally, four dacoity cases were registered, including two in Karachi Company and one in Sabzi Mandi, while one robbery case was reported from the limits of Sihala police station.

The rising crime rate has alarmed citizens, who are demanding stronger security measures and improved police patrolling to curb criminal activities across the capital.

Police officials said investigations were underway in all reported cases, adding that patrolling and surveillance had been stepped up in areas identified as crime-prone.
