LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) organized nutrition awareness camps across the province to provide dietary guidance and health awareness to Hajj pilgrims before their journey.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Salma Butt, along with PFA Director General Asim Javaid, visited Hajj Training Camp at the Punjab University, addressed participants and emphasized the importance of maintaining good health while performing Hajj.

Nutrition sessions have been made mandatory at all district Hajj training centers. Salma Butt congratulated all pilgrims and prayed for the acceptance of their Hajj. She urged them to pray for the integrity, prosperity of Pakistan and the wellbeing of Pakistan armed forces during their pilgrimage. She said these camps have been set up by the PFA for pilgrims’ convenience and to raise awareness about meeting their nutritional requirements.

The Director General said that PFA’s Hajj nutrition guide is a unique and commendable initiative to help pilgrims maintain good health. Awareness sessions are being conducted in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, and Toba Tek Singh, with additional camps established in Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, and Sargodha.

Meanwhile, an enforcement team of the Punjab Food Authority on Friday sealed a nimko manufacturing unit during an operation carried out in Nishter Town. The food safety team sealed the unit for preparing nimko using used and substandard oil and discarded used oil, prohibited colours and open spices found at the premises.

Director General Asim Javaid said that action was taken as the unit had been previously sealed but was illegally reopened in violation of food laws. He said nimko was being prepared and packed directly on broken and filthy floors, posing serious health risks.
