Swift Rescue response averts tragedy in Gulberg Indigo Tower fire: Maryam
LAHORE: A potential tragedy was averted as Rescue 1122 teams responded within minutes to a fire incident at Gulberg’s Indigo Tower, safely evacuating all occupants from the building, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
According to the chief minister, Rescue 1122 carried out a rapid and coordinated operation, successfully rescuing all 180 people trapped inside the tower without any loss of life. She expressed gratitude and appreciation for the professionalism and swift action of the rescue teams.
On receiving information about the fire, CM Maryam Nawaz immediately mobilised the provincial administration. Acting on her directions, Provincial Minister Faisal Khokhar, the Chief Secretary, Director General LDA and the Deputy Commissioner Lahore rushed to the site to supervise the operation.The chief minister directed that the rescue operation continue until every individual was brought to safety, stressing that no effort should be spared until the mission was fully completed. Rescue 1122 teams are currently conducting a comprehensive inspection of the building to ensure complete safety.
Officials said modern fire hydrants and advanced firefighting systems installed in Punjab played a key role in extinguishing the blaze within minutes.
Praising the rescue teams, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the saving of 180 lives was not a coincidence, but the result of the government’s Safe Punjab vision and the effective emergency response infrastructure. She termed the operation a major success for the provincial government and rescue services, reaffirming her commitment to protecting human life as the top priority.
