Office of Bishop of Lahore: LHC upholds single bench’s decision ordering fresh election

LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday upheld a decision of a single bench ordering a fresh election to the office of Bishop of Lahore.

The bench announced its verdict on an intra-court appeal of Samina Bhatti challenging the decision to annul the election of Nadeem Kamran as Bishop of Lahore.

The bench held that the purpose of ordering a fresh election to the office of Bishop of Lahore was to ensure transparency and compliance with legal requirements. Reverend Emmanuel Sardar Khokhar of the Church of Pakistan welcomed the decision and said the ruling is an example of the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law.

Khokhar said the Christian community across the country appreciated the decision and added that the decision would create a positive and conducive environment for the Christian community and the Church in Pakistan.
