LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has decided to start billing in areas completed under the Lahore Development Programme.

In this connection, WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed instructed all towns to include the Lahore Development Programme service areas in the revenue collection framework, stating that any negligence in revenue collection would not be tolerated. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting held on Tuesday to review the weekly progress regarding the Lahore Development Programme, revenue collection, and the complaint management system. All directors of WASA Lahore attended the meeting, while executives joined remotely via webinar. Concerned officers provided updates to the Managing Director regarding ongoing development projects in their respective areas.

While addressing the meeting, Ahmed instructed all directors to expedite the progress of development projects and ensure their timely completion. He emphasised that providing the best services to citizens is WASA Lahore’s top priority. Additionally, he directed the implementation of modern technology to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of the revenue system.

The meeting also decided to take disciplinary action against officers and staff who perform poorly in revenue collection. Furthermore, orders were issued to disconnect water and sewage services for all defaulters.

The WASA Lahore MD stressed the need for prompt resolution of public grievances, asserting that no delays in addressing complaints would be acceptable. He also directed that the desalination operations continue effectively per schedule and placed special emphasis on ensuring the proper supervision of manhole covers across all areas. Clear instructions were given for the immediate resolution of issues related to manhole covers.

“The WASA Lahore remains committed to diligently improving civic amenities, establishing a transparent revenue system, and ensuring effective grievance resolution in alignment with the vision of the Punjab government,” he said.
