Lakki Marwat blast leaves one dead, nine injured

A vehicle transporting employees to the Lucky Cement factory was targeted in a blast at Nawarkhel Mor in Lakki Marwat, resulting in the martyrdom of one civilian and injuries to nine others.

Upon receiving reports of the explosion, Lakki Marwat District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan reached the site with a heavy police contingent. The area has been cordoned off, and a large-scale search operation is underway, Lakki Marwat Police said in a statement on its Facebook account.

DPO Nazir termed the incident a cowardly act aimed at disrupting the peace of the region. He stated that the injured were immediately shifted to the hospital and vowed that the elements involved in the blast would be apprehended soon.

He further added that the police are on high alert to maintain peace in the area, and every possible measure is being taken to ensure the protection of the lives and property of the public.

According to details, the wounded included two women and some of the injured are in critical condition, Aaj News reported citing sources. The explosion caused severe damage to the bus.

Police added that the investigation is being conducted from various angles to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible.

The development comes a day after four police personnel, including a traffic police in-charge, were martyred in two separate firing incidents by unidentified terrorists in Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In an incident, a police officer identified as Rashid Khan was targeted by unidentified motorcyclists in the Kafshi Khel area, within the jurisdiction of Mandan Police Station in Bannu. The officer sustained fatal injuries and passed away on the spot.

A second attack occurred in the Serai Naurang area of Lakki Marwat. Terrorists opened fire on traffic police personnel performing routine duties on the Bannu-Lakki Road. The assault resulted in the martyrdom of Jalal Khan (traffic in-charge), Azizullah (constable) and Abdullah (constable).
